Journey

When I first moved to Bellingham six years ago I was completely broke. In a rare moment of feeling the need to do something creative, I looked around for what I had on hand: old magazines, glue, and scissors and paper. I started cutting out pictures and words. I made a collage and a poem. I did this several times and found it very therapeutic and thought provoking. I started with no intention in mind, but gradually the words came together in a meaningful way. It was in a way a form of meditation --a way of allowing my inner voice speak and be listened to. It is about as insightful (if not more) as reading and pondering tarot cards and as cathartic as having a good cry (but less dramatic to the soul and body).

Then I stopped. Until now. In the past I just used regular stock paper for the poems. But this time I did a Poster Poem. In the past I cut out individual letters or words, but this time I cut a lot of sentences and phrases out as well. Here is the end result:

JOURNEY

How do you live with risk?
Use your mind.
Yes!
Free yourself,
do your thing,
"Twenty-twenty hindsight is easy. That was then, this is now."
Eat well, walk, live to heal your body.
Dive into delicious.
Be Good to Yourself.
"Everybody fails, but the difference is that people who are successful know how to respond. They know how to get back up."
Hang tough, don't be afraid.
"Life is a journey, not a destination."
"Knowing which changes are best for you comes, always, from assessing what you feel. Ask yourself every day."
"The point of creativity is to challenge yourself, to make meaning, to enhance your life."
Intuitive.
Go with the flow.
Be yourself, be naturally beautiful.
At home in the world,
on your next vacation bring back someone new: you.
Turn over a new leaf,
Invent the future.
